Every Physalia garment has its own identity.
There may be many pieces in a collection. There is only one of yours.
Hold your phone to the label and it opens: where it came from, the hands that made it, and the life it goes on to live with you. No app, no account.
Its life
A Physalia garment doesn’t end at the sale. That is where its own story begins.
The first time you wear it. The dinner you almost didn’t go to. Your best friend’s wedding. Each moment can be kept in its passport, in your own words, with the date it happened. These moments are yours alone: no one else who holds the garment can read them.
When it goes to the cleaner, you press Clean. For as long as you choose, anyone who holds it sees only how to care for it, and nothing else. When the time is up, it’s yours again, and the care is written into its life.
And if one day it passes to someone else, as a gift, an inheritance, or a sale, its story goes with it. You keep your moments; the garment keeps its history, and a new chapter begins.
A garment that is worn, cared for and passed on gains meaning. Its passport is where that meaning is kept.
The garment
The piece itself: its design, its collection, and its own number, Garment Nº, given the day it was finished.
The hands
Where it was made, and the people who made it, with a photograph of your piece, taken in the studio the day it was finished. Every maker’s role is always shown. Their name and portrait appear only if they choose.
The structure
What sits beneath the surface. The techniques that give this piece its shape, where the design calls for them: a boned bodice, a French seam, a bias-cut ruffle.
The material
What it is made of, and where that material comes from. Each fabric by name, colour, composition and country of origin.
Care
How to look after this piece, so it lasts.
How its record is kept
A Physalia garment’s record begins before the piece exists: the moment it is ordered, or the moment its making begins. From then on, every stage of its making is written down as it happens, not afterwards: the fabrics used for it, each stage from cutting to the final check, the date, and the maker’s hand.
The record keeps its history. If something needs to be corrected, the passport shows the latest information, while the correction remains recorded with its date. The current record stays clear; its history remains available.
We built this ourselves. Not to add a feature to a garment, but because we believe the people who make clothes should be visible, and the people who wear them should know what they own.
Yours to claim
Every piece arrives with its Record of Ownership: a card with a private code, used only once. With it, the garment becomes yours, and you choose how you appear on it: privately, by your initials, or by name.
You can keep it anonymous. Without your details we can’t help if the card is lost, or when you pass the garment on.
Questions
No. The passport opens in your phone’s browser when you hold it to the label.
Yes. A digital product passport is a digital record connected to a physical product, holding information about its identity, materials, origin, making, care and life. At Physalia, each passport belongs to one specific piece of clothing — a garment passport — from the moment its making begins, and it also serves as its certificate of authenticity. A related term, digital twin, describes a digital counterpart of a physical object.
It does that job, and more. Every Physalia garment carries a secure NFC tag behind its label, uniquely paired with that piece. The passport opens from the garment itself, not from a link printed on a card, and each tap is checked, so a copied link won’t open it.
Only you. Anyone who holds the garment can see its making, its materials, its care and its garment history. They see you only as you have chosen to appear. Your private moments are only ever yours.
No. The label has no battery and no GPS, and it sends nothing on its own. It only answers when a phone is held a few centimetres away.
Most phones do so automatically. If yours doesn’t, write to info@thephysalias.com.
